It was 11.32pm on New Years Eve, and my dad calls.
Daddy: Are you home?
Michelle: No dad. I'm out partying. Dancing the night away.
Daddy: Ok. (to my mother) She's not home yet.
Mummy (in the background): No cannot! Tell her to go home!
Daddy: (to me) Your mother asks you to go home now.
Michelle: You do know you called home right?
Only i was laughing too much. So it sounded like,
Michelle: AOIy ejfvr togotioeij tiuv aoingoi aieutbirubvoirhiovnolar!!!
Daddy: I don't know what you're saying. Speak to your mother.
Mummy: (to me) Michelle. Its late already. Go home.
Michelle: Mum!!!! I am home! Daddy called home, you know right?!?
Mummy: Yes. We're celebrating with the desert now.
Michelle: Help me da pao.
I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that my parents, both middle aged Singaporeans, have more of a life than their 16 year old daughter. At this moment in time, the couple is at a friends place enjoying a good party! Which well, i didn't really want to go to because its full of adults and it would kind of be like, to.. put it across.. more effectively.
Bringing your cousin to the prom as your date.
So, my lack of plans is my own doing. I could have very well gone and ate a mountain. But no. I thought that going to a grown-up party would be boring and would rather stay at home. Where it is equally, if not,
more boring.
There are 2 reasons for this.
1. The Jumong episodes on aznV.TV buffer every 3 seconds and its annoying the beshizzles out of me. So i decided not to watch it to preserve whatever feeling i have left for this show.
You might stop and think? Hmm? Why does Michelle make it seem like she's lost so much faith in this show? Is she not the one who had filled up entire posts talking about Jumong and Soseono and Jumong's wife who is like immortal and does not, EVER die????
Well friends, thats exactly why! When the show fast forwarded to 3 years later, i thought that maybe, maybe now something will happen.
And something did.
Soseono's husband, Woo tae, who is really a good good man and husband kicks the bucket. His last words were, "Tell Soseono.. i'm sorry.. i cannot help her fufil her dream." and then the guy drops dead while Sayong is like "Hyung-nim! Hyung-nim!" and all the audience can think is,
"Finally."
Most anticipated death of the series, honestly. They predicted his death like 20 episodes before and nothing happened. They predicted the death of Rumeiyi and then suddenly in the next episode, she's killed. Whats up with that.
Anyway! Though it was very sad to see the whole scene, because really Woo Tae does love Soseono so much. All you can think about is, yay now Soseono can marry Jumong!
BUT. He has to have a wife and kid. And his kid is the cutest thing on earth. Cutest. And you can't hate his wife because she's some virtuos woman who loves Jumong like don't know what even though they barely know each other.
She suffers for 3 years in the palace for him. Daisu's wife constantly takes her anger out on her, and she's held as a hostage so that Jumong will not attack Puyo. And serves her mother-in-law so faithfully. She gives good answers like, when Lady Yuhwa said that Yangseolran (Daisu's wife and most hated person on the show) does things to her because she's angry that Jumong accomplished something,
"If thats the reason why she does this. Then i'd put up with any kind of suffering."
And my dad is all, Jumongs married now.. he won't think of Soseono.. and i'm like sigh he'll probably end up with his wife in the end because she's so good and what not and he's probably grown to love her at least just a little bit.
I'm aware of how wrong this sounds. But really. If they wanted him to be with his wife, they shouldn't have ended things with Soseono so badly. And now, Soseono and Jumong are allies and working together to build a Goguryeo. They also obviously care for each other a lot, but make it so business like. Soseono is more obvious about her concern for Jumong, but he's a blockhead. You can never tell.
Eg. When Soseono offers to sail with the pirates to get food even though the sea conditions are very rough, Jumong immediately says "No i won't let you go." and then he continues "If something happens to you, everything will fall apart." Because they're allies and respectively leaders so its important for both of them to stay alive for the nation to succeed.
OR
When Jolbon (their nation) is facing the crisis of a blockade and the people are dying of starvation, Jumong prays for 5 days and nights for the gods to save his people. In the mean time, Soseono is out at sea with the pirates sailing south to get food and medicine so she's not back yet. Then, Jumong faints from exhaustion! And the first thing he asks when he comes to is "Is Lady Soseono back yet?" which makes you think !!! HE'S CONCERNED FOR HER but then you think oh right she's bringing the stupid food.
Soseono has more private on screen moments where they show how she worries for him. She also says things like "I have faith that you build the nation that i dream of." when she decides to let him be King. Then theres that moment before she leaves with the pirates and she's thinking to herself. Jumong watches her from a far and she doesn't notice. Then when she turns around and see's him, he comes to her and says that he's worried about sending her on such a rough journey because they can't afford for anything to happen to her. She's all,
"I'm afraid too. But then i just think of you,"
And snap! You sit up straighter!
"..and how you lead the migrants."
I'm telling you. They're such adults about this.
No matter. Myself, and many others who watch the show, are hanging on because we still have hope that they will have a happy ending. But right now its Episode 69, and his wife is being held hostage AGAIN by Prince Youngpo and i really cannot sit through another episode of them potraying how sad her life is. Don't get me wrong, its not that i don't feel sorry for Yesoya (his wife), i do. I'm just rooting for another team.
I mean if he's not going to end up with Soseono, why show all the romance in the first place!!! Then kill all the joy like that. I'm secretly thinking that its a tactic to get people to keep watching all the episodes. Like, they know everyone wants to see them together, but they purposely prolong it so it will keep being viewed. Then only in the last episode, the very last one, they get married.
81 episodes by the way. 81. I must be strong!!!! They will get married!!!!!!
THEN. You start to wonder about what happens after their married, and whether or not it'll be shown.
In history, they don't really love each other but she is his second wife. Soseono makes use of Jumong to unite Jolbon. Then Jumong uses Jolbon as a platform to biuld Goguryeo. 15 years later, Yesoya and Yuri (first wife and son) come to Jolbon. He gives the title of Crown Prince to Yuri instead of Soseono's sons. Soseono fears for their life and position, and leave Goguryeo to build a new nation. Her second son, Ohnjo, founds Baekjae which is the country that Seo Dong is from in Seo Dong Yo.
That sucks.
I hope they don't show any of that because thats even worse. There are even rumours that Jumong killed her because she was too powerful.
I hate history.
Oh, and i completely forgot what all this was about. Let me re-read.
Ahh. Reasons why its boring at home.
Problem solved! Talking about Jumong was both entertaining and upsetting at the same time. but it kept me busy.
If you were curious, reason number 2 was that i had no food.
I wonder how JC life will treat me.
Happy new year!!!!!!

Greetings, from Castle Osaka

You really must hand it to the Japanese.
They know how to make things very, very pretty.
Michelle went "Hey macadamia" :)
Yesterday.
I did something against all the principles i believed in.
Something, against all the morals that i hold on to.
Something, that would shame me infront of my dramatic comrades who probably have all gotten hot over the time that i haven't seen them because why? Because they don't reply my smses when i send them. Why? I don't know either! Explanations guys. Explanations. Ugh why is the worlds is full of things that i do not understand!!!!!
I bought sport shoes.
Yes, i used to live in sport shoes. Back then when i was young and did not know what slippers were.
Since we're going overseas during winter time, my mother is considering the option that her dear daughter might freeze by toe death and therefore ordered me, the daughter, to buy sport shoes to protect my feet. Because you know. I might die.
So, armed and ready, i went to Tampines mall and planned to buy them after watching The Golden Compass with Serena.
Now i digress!
You're probably thinking, Serena? Why only Serena? Did you pay her to do this? Do you guys have a secret child?!?
Well. Thats because, Serena was the only one who replied to my sms.
Do you sense a theme underlying this entire post.
Haha but anyway! After watching the show, blinking in shock because it ended so abruptly and finding out that its actually a trilogy, Serena accompanied me to buy them.
I figured, maybe this wasn't so bad. I'd probably have to use it next year if i get into a JC. Initially, i was planning on wearing my all-white canvas Bata shoes for the next two years. So what if i'm branded a loser. At least my shoes are whiter than yours.
Serena only had time to stop by one shop with me but its fine :D. There i tried on a pair of sport shoes and it looked funny seeing them on my feet since i haven't worn them in so long. My mother specifically told me to buy ones with material that could "keep out the cold". In the end, i got a pair from Converse (not the sneakers) that was on sale! That was fortunate. Hopefully they'd keep my feet warm too.
You're sitting there like. I just read Michelle talk about buying sport shoes. Hah?
Speaking of keeping me warm.
In my mothers effort to ensure i don't turn into ice, she's going to make me wear balloon windbreaker pants whenever she can. They are balloon pants made out of windbreaker material.
You see, they are "ballooned" so that there will always be a layer of air present. As you know, air is an insulator of heat. Thus balloon = warm.
The windbreaker material means that it breaks wind. Hahahaha no kidding, hahahaha. It blocks the wind from reaching the body. Thus windbreaker material = warm.
To summarise,
Balloon + Windbreaker + Pants = Very warm Michelle in a pair of magic pants that give her the ability to fly.
This is my fault though. I'm too cheap to buy a pair of tights and too lazy to find my old pair.
I'll find it. Eventually.
JC postings are out today! In.. 3 hours and 7 minutes. My father expects me up at 7.30am and we'll gather and see how the Ministry of Education decides my fate.
Ah. Guess only time will tell!

So not only is Zhaoxinu married, she's now PREGNANT. As much as i and fellow Jumong fans wish that this baby is Jumongs becasue of some scandal, i think it is Youtai's. According to history, she bears Youtai two children. However i think this part might have been changed in the show and she'll probably bear one child for Jumong.
Oh, and our hero? MARRIED. To that girl who saves him even though he doesn't love her. What else? She's also pregnant. With his baby.
His love life kind of sucks doesn't it.
Conclusion: The guy does not get the girl. Infact, they are being pushed further and further apart. Although, in like, 10294730385649865 episodes, they'll finally be together. Thats a korean drama for you.
I'm off to pretend to sleep.

Ok. Forgive me for being human.
I think its a natural reaction to hide your faults and play up your strengths. Like, whenever i encounter something i don't know for example, astronomy (this happened a few days ago), i like to demean it and make it seem like some small simplistic thing such that its not worthy of my concern. That way, i can maintain my ego and
plus, its just fun. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Yes yes i'm a fan of self denial. Blah blah blah blah blah.
I find great satisfaction in playing up whatever i'm good at, whatever that may be. A while ago i was argueing with my brother over msn on whether i was a bear or a penguin (don't ask) and used, i quote, a "cunning and roundabout tactic". Of course, i was quite pleased with myself and said that i thought my tactic was quite smart. Though saying something of yours is smart actually makes it not smart. But i'm not that technical.
It happened two nights ago.
Michelle Wong Yi Lin was lazing on the sofa and watching TV. It seems that this is the only thing she does these days. Like any normal, insensitive, modern day youth, she wasting her life away - and was thoroughly enjoying it.
Her show has just ended and it was now 11pm. At that moment, she started to feel a strange emptiness in her tummy. A hunger that she should not be feeling so late at night. Nevertheless, she picked up her feet and trudged to the kitchen with a keen eye. Desperately looking out for sustenance.
There was none! She peered into the fridge and saw a container of rice. Rice.. she vaguely remembered cooking fried rice before, once upon a time. She went to the cupboard to search for all the necessary ingredients and they were all present! Excited, she grabbed all the items and lay them out on the counter top.
JUST THEN.
Her new maid, strangely also named Siti, came in to the kitchen. She asked the girl what she was doing. Amiably, the girl replied,
"I'm cooking! I'm hungry so i'm cooking."
And in that instant, the world came crashing down.
Ok. So i've had my new maid for a few months now. Though we are not close, we remain on friendly terms. It'll be hard to achieve the same relationship i had with my old maid because that was built up for like, a billion years. But still, i mean, i'm nice to her and thought that she would be nice to me. Don't you agree? Well its not like she told me off or anything. Instead she looked at me calculatively and said,
"You know how to cook?"Oh. It was onnnnn.
If theres one thing i know how to cook in my life, its fried rice. I actually call it Michelle-style fried rice hehe. Because i came up with it when my old Siti had a day off and i was hungry. This is the most basic of the basic. Its just luncheon meat, rice, tomato sauce and egg. But as usual, i am so proud of it x infinity so i treat it like the best thing in the world. I can't even cook maggi mee! But she doesn't need to know that.
So i turn to her and smile and say that she can go rest and assured her that i'll be fine. The hesitation in her eyes told me that she didn't like trust me with anything that could potentially start a fire.
Come to think of it, my old Siti had that same look. Its a conspiracy!!!!11
But she turns around anyway and goes to her room. As i cook, i'm reminded of the time i passed her new clothes to wash. She took the bag and said to me,
"Shopping again ah girl?"
Ahhh. Good memories.
Anyway, i finished cooking after a short while. Because really all you do is add stuff and move the rice around. I called her and got my showdown face on when, she smiled!
"Wah. You can cook ah girl?"
(She likes to call me "girl". I don't think she's ever actually used my name before. But i respond anyway.)
This time round, her words were said differently. The dish was no peking duck but she seemed to be impressed that i didn't make anything blow up. I was actually pretty happy! I just smiled at her in return but we ALL know that in my heart there was a parade, concert, inflatable floats of me in an apron waving to the adoring crowd as i passed and fireworks exploding every 5 seconds just because i'm so damn awesome *dance*.
With that, i took my plate of food and went out to watch Seo Dong Yo.
The End.
And just because i can, this is Jumong looking in a mirror!

Watch the show on
Channel 55 at 6.40pm,
Channel 255 at 9.40pm,
Channel 55 at 12.50am,
And it just repeats non stop. I don't know why.
But watch it!
